Meet Brett MacCue

Founder & Lead Podiatrist
South Coast Orthotics was founded by Brett MacCue, an experienced podiatrist with a strong background in clinical care and orthotic manufacturing. Brett moved to Nowra in 2013 after serving seven years in the Australian Army with the Royal Australian Engineers. Following his military service, he completed a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine at Charles Sturt University and went on to work extensively across both public health and private practice. With years of hands-on experience in complex foot care, biomechanics, and custom orthoses, Brett brings a unique combination of technical skill and clinical expertise to communities across Nowra, Wollongong, and the wider South Coast NSW region.
Why South Coast Orthotics Was Founded
While working in the public health sector, Brett identified a critical gap in complex biomechanics for people living on the NSW South Coast, Wollongong, and surrounding areas. Many patients were missing out on timely, specialised orthotic and medical footwear solutions—often due to limited service availability, long wait times, or geographical barriers. Brett founded South Coast Orthotics to fill this gap, establishing a local, clinician-led orthotic service that delivers high-quality, evidence-based podiatry, orthotic design, and medical footwear solutions. The clinic’s mission is to provide complex biomechanics solutions to people across Wollongong, Nowra, and the broader South Coast, helping them stay mobile, independent, and active in their communities.
Clinical Expertise
Brett has developed broad expertise across podiatric care, with a particular focus on:
• High-risk diabetic foot care – including consultant-level work within the High Risk Foot Service at Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.
• Biomechanical assessments & orthotic therapy – from precision-designed arch supports to complex ankle foot orthoses (AFOs).
• Medical grade and custom footwear – helping patients access shoes and orthoses tailored to their clinical and lifestyle needs, offering both high quality and a choice of styles.
Unlike many clinics, Brett personally consults with every patient and designs all custom arch supports himself. He manufactures some devices in-house and collaborates with trusted partners for MJF-printed devices, including 3D-printed AFOs produced in Queensland, ensuring durability, precision, and performance. Medical-grade footwear is sourced from reputable manufacturers at NIMCO, combining premium quality with functional and stylish designs. South Coast Orthotics proudly supports patients from Nowra, Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, and surrounding South Coast communities.
